DRG Field Report: Day 1

by Brad Stewart

Today we travelled to Cox’s Bazar and met Mr Moslem & Mr Shohag, our guides/interpreters. Found the cheapest bed we could and travelled to local bazar to purchase medications. We bought most of what we needed except morphine (bought Tramadol instead) and adrenalin. Our supplies included normal saline IV 500ml, injection equipment and related consumables, betadine, analgesia, antibiotics, antiemetics, lignocaine. We also bought 10 cans of baby formula and 100 juice poppers (very cheap) for dehydrated kids. We met another NGO, Muslim Aid from the UK who were very interested in our model. They have been working the refugee camps like most NGOs. Tomorrows plan is to Register with IOM office (NGO coordination centre) then drive further south to Teknaf and into our main area of work.
